Occurrence of firm airborne emissions in the dwarf pine stomatal apert
ures was observed by using of a scanning electron microscopy. Needle s
amples were taken from the Furkotska dolina valley in the Vysoke Tatry
Mountains. Obtained results confirmed the occurrence of globular and
unregular shape emission particles in the needle stomata. On the surfa
ce of some observed needles from dwarf pine individuals damaged by emi
ssions there was recorded an increased occurrence of fungi mycelium. S
uch damaged needles had also a lower content of wax structures in the
stomatal apertures and their surroundings.
