Abstract
Little is known about the neuroendocrine impact of cocaine as it relat es to pituitarygrowth hormone secretion. In these studies, in adult ma le rats, intracerebroventricular administration of cocaine caused a po tent dose-related suppression of circulating growth hormone (GH) in an imals sacrificed 15 min after drug administration. We conclude that in the adult male rat cocaine suppresses plasma GH levels.
