Tg. Lammers, A NEW LINEAR-LEAVED CYANEA (CAMPANULACEAE, LOBELIOIDEAE) FROM KAUAI, AND THE REDISCOVERY OF CYANEA-LINEARIFOLIA, Brittonia, 48(2), 1996, pp. 237-240
Cyanea kuhihewa (Campanulaceae: Lobelioideae) is described from Kaua'i
in the Hawaiian Islands and assigned to sect. Hirtellae. Because of i
ts linear leaves, it was first identified as C. linearifolia, a member
of sect. Delisseoideae presumed extinct. However, the new species dif
fers by its flat or slightly revolute (vs. strongly revolute) leaf mar
gins, fewer-flowered pubescent inflorescences with shorter peduncles a
nd bracts longer than wide (vs. wider than long), and larger pubescent
flowers.
