F. Lahoz et al., SPECTROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF MN2+ IONS IN MIXED FLUOROPEROVSKITES, Radiation effects and defects in solids, 135(1-4), 1995, pp. 661-665
The spectroscopic properties of Mn2+ in RbCdxCa1-xF3 and CsxRb1-xF3 ha
ve been investigated by EPR and photoluminescence. Only the transition
s between the M(s) = +/-1/2 Zeeman levels are observed by EPR. Forbidd
en transitions associated with changes in the MI of one of the surroun
ding fluorines are detected. The superhyperfine interaction with the f
luorines decreases when the lattice constant increases. The decay of t
he luminescence emission corresponding to the T-4(1g)((4)G) --> (6)A(1
g)(S-6) transition of cubic Mn2+ has been measured in RbCaxCd1-xF3 cry
stals. A continuous change in the lifetime has been found with a minim
um at x approximate to 0.3. These results indicate that there is a dis
tribution of environment for Mn2+ in the mixed crystals.
