SPECTRAL CHARACTERISTICS OF REED LEAVES AS AN INDICATOR OF THE ECOLOGICAL STATE OF WATER RESERVOIRS

The results of spectroscopic analysis of the leaves of common reed in the coastal zone of the Neva Bay and in the east part of the Gulf of F inland are discussed. It is shown that the optical properties of the c oastal-aqueous vegetation depend on the chemical composition of soils; particularly, on the presence of heavy metals in them. It is suggeste d that the established regularities can be used for revealing and mapp ing contaminated regions of the bottom of water areas by proceeding fr om the data of multiple-zone remote surveys.
