Abstract
One way of selectively improving the efficiency of radioimmunolocaliza tion and radioimmunotherapy is to eliminate redundant, circulating, no n-targeting radiolabeled antibodies after saturation of the target sit es. Secondary antibodies of different types have been proposed as clea ring agents for such purposes. The conceptually different approaches o f the 'secondary antibody' strategy including its advantages and limit ations are discussed. This mini-review also presents a model describin g the kinetics of the components (the antigen, the primary and seconda ry antibodies) and approaches required to improve the efficacy of both radioimmunolocalization and radioimmunotherapy.
