Abstract
The structure of the complex of 2-ethylpyridine with 2,6-dichloro-4-ni trophenol has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The crystals are m onoclinic, space group P2(1)/c, a = 11.134(2), b = 7.558(1), c = 17.58 6(2) Angstrom, beta = 104.94(2)degrees and Z = 4. The N+-H ... O- brid ge of 2.613(2) Angstrom with <OHN = 173(3)degrees is typical for the c omplexes with strong charge separation and this is confirmed by the IR and UV spectra.
