Allograft meniscus transplantation recently has become a potential met
hod of treating the meniscus-deficient knee. The history, immunology,
processing and sterilization techniques, animal studies, clinical tria
ls, indications, surgical techniques, postoperative rehabilitation, an
d complications of this procedure are reviewed. At this time, meniscal
allograft transplantation remains an investigational procedure with l
imited indications.
