Abstract
An empirically based model is presented for predicting the likely occu rrence of dangerous gas levels on and around landfill sites. A number of falls (275) in atmospheric pressure have been recorded, plotted and compared with case histories of pressure falls associated with gas ex plosions. This data bank will be improved when expanded and evaluated in the light of further information about gas explosions and will enco urage a more rigorous approach to recording gas emissions and pressure changes.
