Abstract
A potentiality of ocean wave imaging with synthetic aperture radars (S ARs) of space vehicles ERS-1 and ''Almaz-1'' is analyzed. Compared wit h the spectra of ''Almaz-1'' SAR images, tile spectra of ERS-1 SAR ima ges are shown to be considerably distorted for azimuthal wave numbers greater than 0.04-0.05 m(-1), the distortions being enhanced with the azimuthal wave number and the orbit altitude of tile vehicle.
