Abstract
This paper develops the generalized equations of motion for high-speed planar elastic mechanism systems by utilizing finite dynamic element theory, in which the gross motion and elastic deformation coupling ter ms are taken into account. The dynamic shape functions of a planar fra me element, which include the influence of shear deformation and momen t of rotary inertia, are developed. An efficient closed-form interativ e modeling solution method is offered, and the convergence condition f or the solution method is presented. Numerical solution results of som e experimental mechanisms indicate that the simulation solution obtain ed by the presented analysis method agrees significantly better with t he experimental data than that obtained by the traditional finite elem ent method.
