Abstract
We describe a new crystalline phase synthesized from a mixture of carb on and nitrogen heated to 2000-2500 K at 30(+/- 5) GPa. This phase, ha ving an X-ray diffraction pattern compatible with cubic symmetry, is t he first example of a dense carbon nitride formed in the bulk.
