F. Ueda et al., CUTTING PERFORMANCE OF SINTERED DIAMOND WITH MGCO3 AS A SINTERING AGENT, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 209(1-2), 1996, pp. 260-263
To elucidate the cutting performance of sintered diamond with MgCO3, w
e carried out cutting tests on a high-silicon aluminum alloy and cemen
ted carbides. In high speed cutting of the Al-17%Si alloy, sintered di
amond with MgCO3 gave a superior wear resistance and a better surface
finish than diamond made with Co. Cutting tests done on WC-(6, 12 and
24)%Co alloys show that the cutting performance of sintered diamond wi
th MgCO3 is superior to that of Co. In the case of sintered diamond wi
th MgCO3, the cutting performance is not affected by the Co content of
cemented carbides.
