Abstract
Results of research work carried out at the PTB have led to the develo pment of a novel non-contact measuring instrument for determining the length of moving goods. This length measuring instrument which is now serialized by a German enterprise uses the reference Doppler technique . The pager describes the function and the metrological properties of the instrument.
