S. Theodoridis et al., SCHEMES FOR EQUALIZATION OF COMMUNICATION CHANNELS WITH NONLINEAR IMPAIRMENTS, IEE proceedings. Communications, 142(3), 1995, pp. 165-171
Two novel techniques are described for equalisation of nonlinear inter
symbol interference. One is a symbol-by-symbol-type technique and is b
uilt around a conventional decision-feedback equaliser by embedding a
neural radial basis-function network before the slicer. The other is a
maximum-likelihood method exploiting the classification nature of an
equaliser. A Viterbiminimisation approach is employed which circumvent
s the need for an explicit channel estimation.
