High pressure was used to produce by strength M(x)C(60) alkaline compo
unds with increasing x. The purpose is to detect for what x value the
alkaline atoms do not form intercalated clusters and reappear as a sep
arate metallic phase. Pressures up to 60 kbar were used and x values o
f 9.8 for Na, and of 13 and 27 for Li were obtained and studied essent
ially by NMR and EPR. Using alkaline NMR we were able to detect the pr
esence of a separate metallic phase and we did not.
