M. Sebti et al., VAPOR STATE INTERCALATION OF ALKALI-METALS INTO POLYPARAPHENYLENE - ESR STUDY, Journal of physics and chemistry of solids, 57(6-8), 1996, pp. 1141-1144
The ESR characteristics of saturated alkali metal intercalated polypar
aphenylene compounds [M(y)(C6H4)](x) With M = Na, K, Rb, Cs, were exam
ined as a function of the nature of the intercalant and temperature. T
he peak-to-peak linewidth, Delta H-pp, follows a Z(alpha) law (Z = ato
mic number of M) with alpha = 2.3 +/- 0.3. Evolution of Delta H-pp wit
h temperature T and atomic number Z shows that these compounds behave
like metals and that the spin orbit interaction is the major cause of
the broadening of the ESR signals.
