Abstract
We have compared performances of a ''minimum mean square error'' filte r matched to amplitude and phase encoded objects. We show that in the case of phase encoded objects the filter provides better discriminatio n capability. The correlation peak value obtained with the new filter is less sensitive to errors in noise statistics parameter estimations used to calculate the filter.
