The thermoelectric power of a (Pb-0.8 Sn-0.2)(1-x) Te-x liquid alloy h
as been measured as a function of composition and temperature. The wel
l-known sigmoid shape for semiconductor to metal transition was observ
ed. A mathematical expression for sigma(E) was found, based on the End
erby er al., mobility edge model. We have compared the experimental da
ta with our theoretical formula, by adjusting some physical parameters
: Fermi energy, energy gap, alpha(C)/alpha(V) relation and the exponen
t v. The fitting proved to be in good agreement with the physical assu
mptions.
