J. Spevacek et al., THERMOREVERSIBLE GELATION OF ISOTACTIC POLY(METHYL METHACRYLATE) IN BUTYL ACETATE - A DIFFERENTIAL SCANNING CALORIMETRY STUDY, Macromolecular rapid communications, 17(6), 1996, pp. 389-395
The thermal behaviour of thermoreversible gels prepared well below roo
m temperature from isotactic poly(methyl methacrylate) (i-PMMA) in but
yl acetate (BAG) was investigated by means of differential scanning ca
lorimetry. Gel-formation and gel-melting enthalpies together with melt
ing enthalpy of the solvent were determined as functions of polymer co
ncentration. The results are consistent with the existence of a polyme
r/solvent complex with a stoichiometry of 1,5-2 BAC molecules per i-PM
MA monomeric unit.
