Abstract
We study the Dirichlet series Sigma a(m)m(-s) where a(m) is the number
of orders of a quartic field with index m. We give an explicit expres
sion of the Dirichlet series. Using this expression, we prove that it
converges absolutely for Re s > 1 and can be analytically continued to
a meromorphic function for Res > 2/3.
