Rc. Picu et V. Gupta, SINGULARITIES AT GRAIN TRIPLE JUNCTIONS IN 2-DIMENSIONAL POLYCRYSTALSWITH CUBIC AND ORTHOTROPIC GRAINS, Journal of applied mechanics, 63(2), 1996, pp. 295-300
Stress singularities at grain triple junctions are evaluated for vario
us asymmetric grain boundary configurations and random orientations of
cubic and orthotropic grains. The analysis is limited to elastic plan
e-strain deformation and carried out using the Eshelby-Stroh formalism
for anisotropic elasticity. For both the cubic and ASME orthotropic g
rains, the most singular configuration corresponds to the fully symmet
ric case with grain boundaries 120 deg apart, and with symmetric orien
tations of the material axes. The magnitude of the singularities are o
btained for several engineering polycrystals.
