POTENTIAL USE OF RAPD MARKERS IN VERIFICATION OF CUCUMBER HYBRIDS

DNA from three new lines used for the production of hybrid cucumber se eds has been extracted and amplified by PCR with 60 different random o ligonucleotides as primers and with different thermostable DNA polymer ases. Amplified fragments were then analyzed on the agarose gel. Obtai ned RAPD markers differed depending on the DNA polymerase used and had relatively low degree of polymorphism. The possible use of RAPD marke rs for cucumber hybrid seeds verification is discussed.
