Abstract
Photodecomposition of pure and doped KI powder (KI:KOH; KI:KCN; Impuri ty concentration, 100, 300, 500, 700 and 1000 ppm) to produce free I-2 molecules during gamma irradiation is studied with the help of absorp tion ad IR measurements. Large number of I-2 molecules are formed in p ure KI as compared to the doped samples. Hydroxide impurity increases the rate of liberation of I-2 molecules whereas the cyanide impurity d ecreases the rate of liberation of I-2 molecules.
