We calculated a broad set of observables for the pi(+)d reversible arr
ow pp reaction with a relatively simple meson-exchange isobar model. T
he comparison between the calculated results and experimental data (in
cluding spin observables) shows that the model gives an overall phenom
enologically acceptable description of the reaction around the Delta r
esonance. We also take into account the effects due to the inclusion o
f the Galilei invariant (pseudovector) recoil term in the pi NN vertex
, of relativistic corrections to the rho-exchange component of the Del
ta N transition potential, and of NN final state interaction in the pi
(+)d --> p + p process. Rescatterings via pion-nucleon interaction in
the S-wave have also been included. The model is sufficiently simple t
o be extended to the case of pion absorption on other light nuclei, in
particular He-3 (or tritium).
