Changes in color of coated (painted) aluminum surfaces exposed to broa
d-band synchrotron radiation (10-2000 eV) are investigated as a functi
on of radiation dose (N). Quantitative color differences (Delta E(ab)(
)) before and after exposure are obtained from spectral diffuse refle
ctance measurements using the standard CIELAB formula. The results ind
icate that the dose-response curve of the color-coated surfaces at lar
ge photon doses can be described as Delta E(ab)() approximate to e(-d
/N) constant.
