The fatty acid and fully hydrogenated triacylglycerol composition in t
he seeds of Pinus massoniana, P. merkusii, P. caribea, P. kesyia, P. d
alatensis, P. krempfii, P. koraiensis and P. siberya were determined.
The non-methylene-interrupted polyenoic fatty acids amounted to 12.0-2
6.4% of total acids. The distribution of triacylglycerols of the seeds
according to their molecular weights was similar to that of common se
ed oil. The possible chemosystematic application of the fatty acid com
position of seeds of Pinaceae is discussed.
