CHEMISTRY OF OXO-ALKOXIDES OF METALS

Beginning with the unexpected formation of Y5O(OPri)(13) in the reacti on of yttrium with isopropyl alcohol, the preparation, properties and structural characterization of homo- and hetero-metallic oxo-alkoxides continue to provoke keen interest, revealing considerable diversifica tion in structural features with mu(2)- to mu(6)-oxo bonding modes. Th is review highlights developments in the synthetic procedures, structu ral features, potential applications, future possibilities and mechani stic approaches for the formation of this fascinating and important cl ass of heteroleptic alkoxide complexes.
