Abstract
Self-diffusion of manganese in polycrystal scales of manganous sulfide has been studied by means of the tracer-sectioning method. The radioa ctive tracer (54)Ma was used. The experiments were carried out in the sulfur vapor under the pressure 10(-11) Pa and 10(-10) Pa and at the t emperature interval (1123-1253) K. It was confirmed that under the con ditions used in these experiments the predominant point defects are in terstitial cations and quasi-free electrons. The activation energy of diffusion by the interstitial mechanism equals (260+/-20 kJ/mol. Copyr ight (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
