Abstract
The N-in-2,4-dimethylpent-3-yloxycarbonyl (Doc) group is presented as a new protecting group for tryptophan that is stable to nucleophiles a nd trifluoroacetic acid, suppresses alkylation side reactions and is c leaved by strong acid along with other protecting groups used in Boc s olid phase peptide synthesis.
