Abstract
The paper chain in its total responsibility is aiming al sustainable d evelopment to contribute to savings of renewable and non-renewable raw materials including fossil energy and at controlled emissions and sol id waste. In the past years significant progress has been made for the benefit of environmentally-sound processes and environmentally-friend ly products. Currently, forestry is of significant concern in the glob al framework. The indispensible organic additives are not any more att acked, apart from a few substances. The paper chain is a good example for sustainable development thanks to renewable raw materials used and different cycles (carbon dioxide cycle, recycling of waste paper, clo sure of white water systems), but also thanks to savings of raw materi als and energy.
