The polarographic and voltammetric behavior of ciprofloxacin lactate (
CFL) and its application were studied. In 0.02 mol/L NH4Cl-NH3 . H2O b
uffer solution (pH=8.3), a well-defined reduction peak was yielded by
CFL. The peak potential (E(p)) is about -1.61 V (vs. SCE). A linear re
lationship holds between the differential peak height and the concentr
ation of CFL in the range of 3.9 X 10(-8)similar to 1.8 X 10(-6) mol/L
and 1.8 X 10(-6)similar to 1.1 X 10(-5) mol/L, respectively, with r =
0.999 7. The limiting detection is 2.5 X 10(-8) mol/L. Most of metall
ic ions do not interfere the determination. This method is used to det
ermine CFL in raw samples and injections with RSD 0.38%similar to 0.72
% and recoveries 99.2%similar to 101.4%, and can also be used to deter
mine the trace CFL in serum, plasma and urine samples. It may provide
a simple, rapid and sensitive method for determining clinical medicine
and pharmacokinetics. The experimental results show that the reductio
n of CFL belongs to an irreversible process of reactant adsorption. Th
e electrode reaction mechanism was preliminarily presented.
