Abstract
Fairly high yields of alpha-polyfluoroalkyl ketones (aldehydes) formed in the reactions of enamines with polyfluoroalkyl iodides were charac terized by UV, IR, MS, H-1 NMR, F-19 NMR and elemental analysis. The e lectron transfer in nature of these reactions was proved by spin trapp ing and inhibition experiments, The addition of catalytic amounts of S mI2 has significantly shortened the reaction time and increased the yi elds of alpha-polyfluoroalkyl ketones.
