The magnetic properties and the Fe-57 Mossbauer effect (ME) of UFe9.9C
r0.1Si2 and UFe1.0Si1.9Sn0.1, have been investigated in a broad temper
ature range and under magnetic fields up to 14 T in the case of the ma
gnetization measurements. Both compounds exhibit ferromagnetic propert
ies below about 650 K. The saturation magnetizations amount to about 1
5.9 mu(B)/f.u. (magnetization) and about 15.7 mu(B)/f.u. (ME) for the
first compound, and to about 18.2 mu(B)/f.u. (magnetization) and about
15.9 mu(B)/f.u.m (ME) for the second. These values suggest that the u
ranium atom contributes to the magnetism of these materials.
