COMPARISON OF THE MAGNETIZATION REVERSAL OF HI-8 ME AND MP VIDEOTAPE

This paper presents the hysteresis loops of Hi-8 ME and MP videotape m easured with a newly developed vectorial vibrating reed magnetometer. The influence of the tape geometry on the magnetization state of the M E tape and an incoherent change in the magnetization of the ME tape, w hich were predicted previously on the basis of transverse susceptibili ty and ferromagnetic resonance measurements, could be verified. The di rect observation of the incoherent states of magnetization requires th e investigation of sufficiently small samples with the bias field appl ied approximately parallel to the tape normal.
