Abstract
Micromagnetic calculations using a finite element technique describe t he influence of microstructural features on the magnetic properties of Co/Pt multilayers. The nucleation field decreases with decreasing tex ture owing to nonuniform magnetic states near the grain boundaries. Sp atial fluctuations of the magneto-crystalline anisotropy considerably hinder domain wall motion.
