R. Sindhi et al., COMBINED LIVER SMALL-BOWEL TRANSPLANTATION USING A BLOOD-GROUP COMPATIBLE BUT NONIDENTICAL DONOR, Transplantation, 61(12), 1996, pp. 1782-1783
A successful liver/small intestinal transplantation with a blood group
O donor to a blood type A recipient is described. Mild graft versus h
ost disease developed, manifested by hemolysis, but did not result in
graft loss or patient mortality, This suggests that minor ABO incompat
ibility may be tolerated with intestinal transplantation, despite the
transplantation of large amounts of lymphoid tissue.
