Abstract
The concept of vertisolization, vertigenetics, actual and potential co mpactness are discussed. Geographic and landscape regularities governi ng changes in vertic processes are considered. A forecast has been pro posed for potential, actual compactness, and vertigenesis for vertic s oils of the Central Pre-Caucasus in case of probable climatic changes.
