Abstract
Participants in recognition memory experiments are often asked for add itional information about their memories after each positive recogniti on response. Two experiments were conducted that were identical, excep t that the first asked participants to make remember/familiar judgment s about the items they recognized, and the second asked them to make s ource judgments. The similarity between the recollection and source ju dgment data has implications for measurement issues and theory develop ment.
