An analytic solution is presented for evaluating the electromagnetic p
lane wave scattering from an infinitely long cylinder axially loaded w
ith periodic metallic rings. The periodicity of the structure has been
properly considered by expanding the field in terms of cylindrical Fl
oquet harmonics. Numerical results for both TE(z) and TM(z)-polarised
incident fields are presented and validated as far as possible.
