Abstract
This paper presents a simulation study to investigate the most effecti ve product mix to provide the optimal operating characteristics of an assembly line in a high-volume production environment. Features of the product combination which directly affect performance measures such a s workcentre utilization and line capacity are assessed. This work ill ustrates the potential of discrete event simulation as a management to ol in an assembly environment.
