Jm. Prieto et al., EVIDENCE ON THE PRIMARY SOURCE-TRAIT STRUCTURE IN THE SPANISH 16PF, 5TH EDITION, European review of applied psychology, 46(1), 1996, pp. 33-43
Cattell's system of 16 primary factors in the personality sphere has n
ot changed since his foundation studies 50 years ago. This article exa
mines the evidence that supports the primary structure of the Spanish
version of the 16 PF 5th Edition. This questionnaire was administered
to 3,446 subjects and the pool of items factored and reorganized by ho
mogeneous parcels. Principal factor solutions and oblique simple struc
ture rotations were carried out using the BMDP. All the 16 source-trai
ts have been confirmed, both in the total sample and in separate sampl
es of females and males. The sorted factor pattern matrix, the complet
e factor structure matrix and the factor score covariance matrix are m
ade available. The conclusion is that the 16 PF-5 published in Spain m
easures the factors which it purports to measure at the primary level.
It satisfies critical scrutinity at the item parcels level.
