Abstract
The energy loss of hydrogen beams in oxygen is analyzed using the dist orted wave charge-state approximation. This model rakes into account d istortion effects due to the long range of Coulomb potentials for the proton impact channels. Projectile energies from 10 keV up to 1 MeV ar e considered. Mean stopping power and charge-state fractions are calcu lated and comparisons with experimental data are performed.
