Jj. Baluch et al., REPRODUCTION OF PROJECTILE AND TARGET MASSES FROM THE BINARY DATA IN THE HEAVY-ION INTERACTION OF 17.0-MEV N XE-132 WITH U-238/, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 111(1-2), 1996, pp. 91-94
We have collected track data of the observed binary events in the heav
y ion interaction of Xe-132 + U-238 at 17.0 MeV/N beam energy after et
ching the detectors for various times from 20 to 80 min. It has been o
bserved that data reveal proper information regarding the associated e
nergies after the 80 min of etching. The elastic events were selected
from the binary data on the basis of Rutherford scattering which was t
hen used to look for the coefficients of Gottschalk's range-mass-energ
y relationship. These coefficients, when used along with the track len
gths and angles of the elastic events, reproduced the masses and energ
y of the reaction partner.
