R. Preseren et al., X-RAY-ABSORPTION CELL FOR ALKALINE METAL VAPORS, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 111(1-2), 1996, pp. 161-162
Tiny effects of collective motion of the atomic system are revealed in
X-ray absorption spectrometry on free-atom samples. In construction o
f an absorption cell for alkaline metal vapors the main problem is to
devise vacuum-tight windows thin enough to transmit the X-ray beam, an
d still resistant to the aggressive vapors. A successful operation of
the cell is demonstrated by K-edge absorption spectrum of atomic rubid
ium.
