Addition of H2O2 to an aqueous solution of 1,3-thiazolidine-2-thione a
nd CuC1(2).2H(2)O yielded the title compound. The asymmetric unit cons
ists of one chloride ion and one ,3-thiazolidin-3-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1,3-
thiazol-1-ium cation, C6H9N2S3+. The molecular cation consists of 1,3-
thiazolidine-2-thione and 4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazolium moieties in a cis
oid-S,S configuration, linked by attachment of the thioamido C atom of
the thiazolium group to the thioamido N atom of the thiazolidine ring
. A combination of ionic and hydrogen-bonded interactions link the mol
ecular cations and the chloride ions in the unit cell.
