Abstract
Multimedia communications, fast growing industry in the world and in K orea, require advanced technology in network, computer, device, and ap plication software. Korean government and industries prepare for this huge opportunity by commitment to national R&D programs. While investi ng heavily on present multimedia products, private companies also supp ort R&D on future multimedia technologies. This paper surveys key R&D efforts in Korea by programs and organizations.
