Abstract
Using alpha-alkylation, 1,3-rearrangement, and regioselective desulfon ylation allows the control of the regiochemistry of alkene synthesis f rom allylic sulfones. Sequences involving allylic 2-hydroxypropyl, 2-t rimethylsilylethyl, and benzothiazol-2-yl sulfones are described leadi ng to isopropenyl and isopropylidene isomers of an alkene starting fro m a common sulfone intermediate.
