Ed. Phillips et al., ALKENE SYNTHESIS FROM ALLYLIC SULFONES - PREPARATION OF ISOPROPENYL AND ISOPROPYLIDENE ISOMERS FROM A COMMON INTERMEDIATE, Tetrahedron, 53(1), 1997, pp. 307-320
Using alpha-alkylation, 1,3-rearrangement, and regioselective desulfon
ylation allows the control of the regiochemistry of alkene synthesis f
rom allylic sulfones. Sequences involving allylic 2-hydroxypropyl, 2-t
rimethylsilylethyl, and benzothiazol-2-yl sulfones are described leadi
ng to isopropenyl and isopropylidene isomers of an alkene starting fro
m a common sulfone intermediate. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science L
