Jl. Diehl et al., BRONCHIOLITIS OBLITERANS ORGANIZING PNEUMONIA ASSOCIATED WITH CHLAMYDIAL INFECTION, The European respiratory journal, 9(6), 1996, pp. 1320-1322
A 70 year old man presented with symptoms and laboratory findings sugg
estive of chlamydial pneumonia. Despite adequate antibiotic therapy, h
is condition did not improve and transbronchial biopsies disclosed a t
ypical feature of bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP)
. After initiation of corticosteroid therapy, there were marked clinic
al and radiographic improvements. This report demonstrates that chlamy
dial infection may be associated with BOOP.
