We report two cases of skin lesions that clinically resemble a comedo.
Both lesions demonstrated a firm black papule which was histopatholog
ically reminiscent of a dilated hair follicle associated with an abnor
mality of the hair cortex. These findings are thus considered to repre
sent a unique and peculiar variant of the dilated pore of Winer, and t
he term ''hair cortex comedo'' is therefore believed to be suitable fo
r such lesions.
